INTRODUCTION

REPOSITORIES IN RUSSIA AND ROMANIA

The Archive Database on this website includes a comprehensive inventory of documents in Belarus, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland and Ukraine.  New data has been added (from 2009) from some archives (not all) in both Russia and Romania.  The data is selective for localities in Russia (the city of Moscow) and we thank Dolph Kahn in Moscow for contributing this data to the Archive Database. From time to time, there may be further additions from these countries, but not on the comprehensive basis of the foregoing five countries.  The new data comes from the following repositories in Russia and Romania.

Additionally, Jewish vital records held in the archives in Baia Mare, Romania (which include towns both in Romania and Southern Ukraine) have also been added to the Archive Database. We are grateful to Brooke Schreier Ganz for contributing this data to the database and to Beth Long for compiling it. The Archive Database also includes entries for the towns of Bistrita and Saratel in Romania.
