A detailed street map of the city of Ostroh near Rovno (Rivne) in western Ukraine, with a list of streets indexed to a grid, plus a symbol key identifying many types of architectural and cultural heritage and an extensive list of cultural sites (also keyed to the map grid). Indicated on the map as an architectural monument (No. 8) is the 17th-century Great Maharsha Synagogue, a once-glorious structure which fell into serious disrepair after WWII, but which then saw significant restoration until the death of the key local Jewish heritage activist. Marked memorial monuments include the site of mass killings of Ostroh Jews during WWII (No. 15) and the gravesite of Shmuel Eliezer Ha-Levi Edels (Maharsha) (No. 4) in the Jewish cemetery, which is labeled as a city park. An inset shows the former Ostroh administrative district with many labeled cities and towns. The reverse side of this map, by Kartografiia of Kyiv, presents historical essays on the city and region in Ukrainian and English languages along with color photos of significant local heritage sites.
