A detailed and illustrated listing with descriptions of tourist sites in the Rivne region (oblast) bordering Belarus in northwestern Ukraine, published by Karty i Atlasy of Lviv. The upper half of the brochure lists more than 200 settlements in the region with a description of historical and cultural sites and structures there, each keyed to their locations within the grid on the oblast map on the front side of the brochure; more than 20 of the features are illustrated with color photographs, and among the sites mentioned are the synagogues of Dubno and Ostrog (Ostroh), while the data on Klevan includes both its synagogue and its Jewish cemetery. These are flanked by a general description of the oblast and by a focused essay on the Ostrogski family and their castles. The lower half provides general information about the region, with detail about the historical Polissia (Polesia) region which straddles the northern half of the oblast and Belarus and features rich reserves of amber. Representative natural landscapes and unique natural features are described, illustrated, and keyed to the map grid. A sketched map and description of the Rivne zoo is also included.
